DC Hi-Fi Group Meeting—February 29, 2020

It was a big Leap. I think half, or it just seemed like it, of the club’s membership squeezed into Russ Katz’s townhouse—home of The Vinyl Revivers.  Russ has been a corporate member of the DC Hi-Fi Group from the beginning and is a big supporter of the club. Hosting a club meeting takes a lot of work and Russ has done many.  Be sure to thank Russ and Roslyn at the next gathering. It was a beautiful day, a little chilly, but anything above freezing in February around here is a… Read More

DC Hi-Fi Group Meeting—January 25, 2020

With the threat of bad weather, we still had a good group of members making the trek to Alexandria for another very pleasant get together at Greg Viggianno’s condo party room. This was a combo meeting with DC Hi-Fi Group and the Carver enthusiast club. They are a worldwide owners of Carver vintage products. They have a forum called “The Carver Site”. The meeting followed with the usual format of “meet and greet” with pizza and various liquid refreshments.  After way too much pizza, we had a short business meeting and quickly… Read More

DC Hi-Fi Group December Meeting—Christmas Party December 15, 2019

Gramophone, Gaithersburg, graciously hosted our December meeting and Christmas party. Chris Murphy, who has moved down from Overture in Wilmington, DE., has taken over the Gaithersburg Design Center and become the Regional Business developer. Chris has been a great friend and supporter of DC Hi-Fi Group and welcomed us with open arms and shared the Gaithersburg store on a Sunday afternoon for great greets and eats. Gramophone had the new Totem Metal small floor stander on demo with McIntosh electronics. These highly efficient (91db) surprisingly pumped the low bass (26Hz – 22kHz)… Read More

DCHFG November 2019 Meeting—The Leesburg Listening Room

Dennis Clark of the Leesburg Listening Room, hosted our November meeting following just a week after the very successful Capital Audiofest (my report is in process). The location is in a large home in a gated community just south of Leesburg. It’s a lovely home and the basement is dedicated to the Leesburg Listening Room store. It is geared toward home theater but with an audiophile tilt. We had the usual eat and greet with about twenty members making the trip out west. We then crammed in to the main sound room… Read More

DCHFG Second Annual Rummage Sale Wrap Up

The DC Hi-Fi Group’s second annual rummage sale is now in the history books. Last Sunday, at the historic Garrett Park Town Hall, we had over 20 sellers with a wide variety of electronics and media presented for the public’s perusal. There was a steady stream of buyers coming through from 9:30 am in the morning to around 2 pm in the afternoon looking over tables loaded down with everything from vintage Hi-Fi to some of the latest digital audiophile electronics. There was an awesome selection of new and preowned LP’s as… Read More
